Id gone home
dad wasnt buried yet…arangements still to be done…and went up town….walked not caught the bus….
couldnt stand at the bus stop…….i suppose memories of the buggar complaing they never come on time..
you might not know Pontefract , but just as you come to the town hall, they made it a pedestrian zone years ago.
Just below the town hall,i heard music,ok lol , getting, like a mini Leeds or London, cos now ,a few buskers in Ponte, short for Pontefract, so if Pontefract mensioned again in the book ,will be Ponte….Castleford , Cas get it……..any way…..i heard a sound of a violin…….i approached the square in front of the market…and tears in my eyes….was drawn to that sound…….louder as i got closer…
In front of the Buttercross……they used to sell butter there lol 200 years ago,a girl played a glass violin,
i stood in awe as she played,a busker in Ponte, i watched in awe till she finished ,i was frozen,.not on this planet, she was selling cds,and after she finished playing,i asked, is that song on your cd,she replied no.
whats the song i asked, she was polish, she asked why was i so interested, i said i had just lost dad and walking through Ponte…she had ,with her music blown my brains out, and at the same time such nice memories ,and so she wrote it down for me…..
i told her one day…….put that on your cd
in the pastry shop……where i was always told,,,, by dad ,,,why you spend 1 pound on a cheese and chicken pastie,………she was playing it again…..
will stay with me forever.
you can here the song onhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tS-DmhSXL7A&feature=related
by the way that day……….she just did the violin no piano,,,,,
No taxi that day, to go home, i walked, with pastie in hand, normallly he would have put in his old carry plastic bag,Logged on the net, searched the song and played over and over and over again…..xxxxxx
